MD Governor on Marriage Recognition

Today we saw marriage recognition in DC and according to Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, we could see similar action soon in Maryland.  As we've reported Maryland’s Attorney General is considering whether out-of-state marriages between same-sex couples can be recognized in the state.  Yesterday on WTOP Radio, Gov. O'Malley said:

"I think that it's very difficult to deny equal rights to people when it comes to rights that are dispersed by government rather than a faith or a church and so I think if a person has these rights under another state than I think we're sore pressed to deny those rights, so yes, I think we probably should respect those rights."

Equality Maryland has an online form to thank the Governor for speaking out for equal marriage recognition and you can also take action through HRC's action center.
