Maryland Phonebanks for Marriage through the Holidays
December 16, 2011 by David Contreras Turley, Senior Regional Field Organizer
With the holidays in full swing and the legislative session right around the corner, marriage supporters across the state continue to volunteer and phonebank to ensure the Maryland legislature passes marriage equality in 2012. Even with the distraction of family, friends, shopping and parties, supporters of marriage equality remain steadfast in their commitment to passing the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Equality bill.
Nothing says the holidays like family, love, and commitment, that is why this holiday season the Human Rights Campaign and Marylanders for Marriage Equality are helping supporters tell their legislators how they feel. Marylanders from all walks of life understand that gay and lesbian couples share the same values, like commitment and family, as everyone else. And like everyone else, they want the opportunity to marry the person they love.
This holiday season, join supporters like Ginna Browne and Susan Garner from PFLAG Howard County, and tell your friends and family to speak up, spread the love and holiday joy, and tell their legislators that the time is now to treat all Maryland families equally and finally pass marriage equality.
