Marc Jacobs is lending his influence in the fight for marriage equality. In collaboration with the Human Rights Campaign, he has designed a limited edition t-shirt featuring the image of a lesbian couple with their child and the words, “I pay my taxes, I want my RIGHTS!” on the front, and “Marc Jacobs Proudly Supports Human Rights Campaign” on the back.
Because of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, legally married same-sex couples are excluded from more than 1,100 federal rights and benefits of marriage — many of them related to taxes.
A limited edition of 500 cotton t-shirts is being offered at HRC stores in Provincetown, MA; San Francisco, CA;, Palm Springs, CA; Washington, DC; and through shop.hrc.org. 100% of the net proceeds will go toward HRC’s fight for equality. The unisex t-shirts retail for $35. Previous designs have been released by Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Kenneth Cole, Alex & Chloe, Christian Siriano, Heatherette, Nike and American Apparel.
