Maine House to vote tomorrow on marriage bill
May 4, 2009
After the Maine Senate voted 21-14 on Thursday to pass legislation to allow same-sex couples to marry, the state House is expected to vote on the legislation tomorrow. If the House passes the bill (LD 1020), it may have to go back to the Senate for a final vote before being sent to the Governor. If Maine Governor John Baldacci signs the legislation, Maine would become the fifth state to offer marriage equality for same-sex couples. HRC’s field organizer Jeremy Kennedy has been on the ground in Maine for the past three months working with Equality Maine to build support for the marriage legislation. We'll be keep you posted on the latest from Maine as available....
