Chad Griffin Meets with Former Maine Governor and HRC-Endorsed U.S. Senate Candidate Angus King
November 1, 2012 by Maureen McCarty, HRC Senior Digital Strategist
HRC President Chad Griffin met with former Maine governor and current U.S. Senate candidate Angus King in Maine today as part of his cross-country Get Out the Vote tour. HRC has endorsed King in his bid for the Senate.
King is a consistent advocate for equality and a vocal supporter of "Yes on 1," the campaign to win marriage equality for all loving, committed couples in Maine.
Later in the day, Chad addressed a lively crowd at a Get Out the Vote rally held by Mainers United for Marriage/Yes on 1 in Portland. Chad’s time in Maine is part of HRC’s largest mobilization effort in the organization’s history to make 2012 a year of equality milestones. He is on a six-state tour to encourage members and supporters to get out and vote for equality.
By Election Day, HRC will have invested $8 million in efforts to expand marriage equality over the past two years, including $5 million in the fourballot measure states.
There’s still time to make a difference. HRC has set up a special fund – HRC Maine Families PAC – to direct 100 percent of your contribution to help win marriage equality in Maine.
