Earlier this week, Heritage of Pride named Cyndi Lauper one of the grand marshals for New York’s 43rd annual LGBT Pride March.
The singer-songwriter has been a longtime friend of HRC and an incredible advocate for the LGBT community. Her True Colors Fund actively works to end LGBT youth homelessness, and she's taken her advocacy on the road with the popular True Colors Tour.
Two years ago, she also helped launch the Give a Damn Campaign, a web-based education initiative that raises awareness for LGBT issues within straight communities.
HRC salutes Cyndi for her tireless work promoting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. Other parade marshals include Chris Salgardo, president of Kiehl’s skincare line, and Phyllis Siegel & Connie Kopelov, the first same-sex couple married in New York City. The march takes place on June 24.
