Long Lines to Wed in Washington County, Arkansas

On Monday morning long lines formed early at the Washington County Courthouse in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Justice of the Peace Eva Madison signed the first same-sex marriage license and said the county would be issuing marriage licenses “for all.”
Madison, a shareholder in Littler’s Northwest Arkansas office, said, “Washington County is a party to the Wright lawsuit and therefore bound by Judge Piazza’s ruling allowing same-sex marriages in Arkansas.”
Madison is a proud straight ally and a member of Littler Pride, Littler’s LGBT affinity group. Madison and her fellow Justice of the Peace Candy Clark were at the courthouse Monday morning at 8 a.m. to perform ceremonies and sign marriage licenses.
