Lobbying in Tallahassee, FL for ENDA

On Wednesday, September 18, Clergy visited Senator Nelson’s Tallahassee, FL office to show support for ENDA. The visits are a part of a national campaign called Americans for Workplace Opportunity. They will ensure that lawmakers in Washington hear from the millions of Americans from all walks of life who support LGBT workplace protections. The campaign is undertaking grassroots organizing in a number of key states.
The Human Rights Campaign team consisted of Rev Brant Copeland of First Presbyterian Church, Rev Nancy Dahlberg United Church in Tallahassee, Rabbi Jack Romberg of Temple Israel, and Rev Elder Diane Fisher of Metropolitan Community Church of Tallahassee. Rev Copeland and Rev Elder Diane Fisher were encouraged by the day and anticipate doing follow-up visits.
Americans for Workplace Opportunity is led by a diverse, bipartisan steering committee of 11 organizations representing millions of Americans who support ENDA. The steering committee members are the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Federation of Teachers, the American Unity Fund, Gill Action, the Human Rights Campaign, the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the National Center for Transgender Equality, the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, the Service Employees International Union, Communications Workers of America and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
