12:30 p.m. - As the Senate continues debate on the Civil Marriage Protection Act (SB 116), Senator Alan Kittleman, the only Republican Senator to support the bill, stands up to express why he supports marriage equality for all Marylanders. The senate is breaking for recess and committee meetings but will reconvene this evening to continue debate and potential final passage of SB 116. We'll keep you updated on the progress. 10 a.m. - Today, the Maryland state Senate is doing a third reading and final vote of the Civil Marriage Protection Act (SB 116). The senate opened this morning with Senator Rob Garagiola, lead sponsor of the bill, providing testimony about why he supports marriage equality for all Marylanders. Yesterday, the bill passed the second reading favorably with a vote of 25 to 22. We are hopeful that the bill will continue its momentum and provide equality for all Maryland families. We'll be in Annapolis today as history unfolds and we thank our thousands of members across the state who have worked along side Equality Maryland to make today possible. Please make sure you contact your legislators today to make sure they do the right thing. Stay tuned for more updates.
