On Thursday, marriage equality will take effect in Minnesota, and the folks at Betty Crocker aim to celebrate the historic day with a few sweet treats.

The Betty Crocker division of General Mills will donate life-sized cakes to each of the first three couples to marry at the Minneapolis City Hall and another giant cake for newlyweds to enjoy at the nearby Hotel Minneapolis.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak will marry the first couple, Cathy ten Broeke and Margaret Miles, at midnight followed shortly after by Reid Bordson and Paul Nolle. The third couple, Al Giraud and Jeff Isaacson, will marry in St. Paul. Ceremonies will continue throughout the night.

General Mills is a longtime top-scorer on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index, the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT employees. For years, General Mills has worked to promote workplace equality and diversity through its LGBT employee network group, Betty’s Family, named for the iconic brand.
