Leaping forward into Fall in Minnesota!

Minnesota’s campaign to defeat the anti-marriage amendment took a great leap forward this week!
At the 2011 Twin Cities HRC Annual Gala Dinner this weekend, HRC launched our Minnesota Family Freedom PAC, which will help fund efforts to defeat the anti-marriage amendment in Minnesota. Tens of thousands of dollars were pledged at the dinner, which gets us off to a great start. If you’d like to keep the momentum going and help our efforts in Minnesota, you can make a donation here: www.hrc.org/MNBallotPAC
The Gala also celebrated the work of Project 515, a partner of HRC’s in the campaign to defeat the anti-marriage constitutional amendment in Minnesota. Project 515, named after the 515 rights and protections afforded to married couples in Minnesota which are not granted to same-sex couples, received the Brian Coyle Award for their work. We look forward to continuing to work with them on this battle!
Also this week, Richard Carlbom, former Campaign Manager for Tim Walz for U.S. Congress, was hired to lead Minnesotans United for All Families, the campaign to defeat the constitutional amendment banning marriage for same-sex couples in Minnesota. Richard’s leadership and experience will be a tremendous resource for this campaign. I had the privilege of working with Richard for Congressman Walz from 2007-8 and I am looking forward to teaming up with him again to defeat this amendment. Read more about Richard here.
With 14 months until Election Day, we are building real momentum here in Minnesota!
