Lana Wachowski’s touching speech about her journey as a transgender American is continuing to resonate with people – the video has hit more than 100,000 views. The acclaimed director of the Matrix trilogy shared her story while receiving HRC’s Visibility Award in San Francisco last month.
In her remarks, Wachowski touched on the painful isolation she felt as a young person that led her to consider suicide. One week from today, we’ll be marking Transgender Day of Remembrance – a day to remember all who are victims of anti-trans hate. A major goal of Transgender Day of Remembrance is to raise awareness about anti-trans violence among those who need to be most aware of it, including lawmakers, educators, and law enforcement officials.
