Karl Rove Spends Millions Bashing Tammy Baldwin
September 26, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Online Campaigns Manager
Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS is unleashing a new attack ad against Tammy Baldwin – the longtime equality advocate who, should she be elected to the U.S. Senate in November, would be the first openly gay senator to serve.
Baldwin is running against former Bush administration official Tommy Thompson. Unsurprisingly, former Bush administration ally Karl Rove is behind the attacks on Baldwin. According to CNN, the latest attack criticizes Baldwin for supporting various items on President Obama’s agenda – including healthcare reform.
Recent polling shows that Baldwin has opened up a lead over her opponent. But it’s more important than ever to support her in the final few weeks of the election – especially as attacks like this ramp up. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen dishonest assaults on Baldwin – a few weeks ago, a Thompson campaign official sent out an email implying that, simply because Baldwin was a lesbian, she couldn’t talk about heartland values.
This is a truly historic race. Get involved now and help Tammy Baldwin secure a seat in the U.S. Senate!
