Join Us This Father’s Day and Together We Hope to Make History in New York!

On Father's Day, June 19th faith communities around the state are gathering to express their strong support for marriage equality. On Long Island, Staten Island, in the Hudson Valley, and in Rochester and Buffalo, churches of all denominations are coming together on Father’s Day to demonstrate solidarity for equal marriage rights for all New York families. If you are in one these areas and want to show your support too, contact and join us!

Also on Sunday, we'll be in Buffalo from 11am-6pm downtown. Supporters will gather at 736 Elmwood Ave, in front of the Spot Cafe to collect signed postcards and contact legislators on the spot, running a "stop and dial" phonebank to area legislators. Come find us! We will also be at the Fellowship Christian Center at 2pm where families and members of the faith community are gathering in solidarity to show their support for marriage equality for all New Yorkers.

On Long Island from 11am-3pm Long Island residents will canvass door-to-door in a push to pass marriage legislation before the end of the 2011 session. Meet us at the intersection of King Road and East Main Street in Smithtown at 11am to knock on doors and rally supporters.  Join us!

We have a busy day in the Hudson Valley.  We will be at the Clearwater Festival and at Hudson Pride helping New Yorkers express their support for marriage.  At noon, we will be at the Christ Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie for a special Father’s Day gathering where churchgoers and families will collectively express their support for all New York families by writing letters and making phone calls to their Senators to show their unwavering support.

On Staten Island, we will be post-carding and "stop and dialing" at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal on the Manhattan side. We will meet outside the main concourse. Our first shift is from 12pm-5pm and our second shift if from 5pm-8pm. If you are in the NYC areas, please join us.

Our work this weekend comes as New Yorkers United for Marriage continues to showcase the deep, mainstream support for marriage equality legislation in New York State.
