Join HRC’s Athletes for Equality for the Marine Corps Marathon 2012

The following post comes from James Servino, HRC Online Fundraising and Advocacy Manager:

There’s nothing quite like running a marathon - pushing yourself to the limit and finding out you can accomplish things you never thought possible.

That’s the feeling that drives 30,000 runners from 50 different countries to run the Marine Corps Marathon each fall. And this year, you can experience it too.

We're proud to continue our partnership with the Marine Corps Marathon and offer an exciting opportunity for HRC supporters like you to run the 26.2-mile race as part of HRC's team. But we only have 100 spots available – and they're going fast.

Be an HRC Athlete for Equality. Join our Marine Corps Marathon team today.

For Team HRC, this is a lot more than just a race. Each of our runners also raises money on behalf of HRC and our fight for LGBT equality. With each mile you run and each hour spent training, you’ll be helping to make our nation's schools, hospitals, and workplaces safer and more equal.

The base fundraising level begins at $1,500 – and most participants can raise that and more through quick emails to friends and family who are always eager and excited to help!

As a member of the Team, you'll have a chance to win some pretty great prizes as our thank you to you for your incredible support. You’ll also have the chance to connect with other HRC runners on Facebook and share training experiences and tips.

But space is limited. We only have 100 slots and they’re going fast.

Get your registration in now and become one of HRC's Athletes for Equality. Be a part of HRC's equality marathon at the Marine Corps Marathon this fall.

Are you willing and able to rise to the occasion? Becoming an HRC Athlete is an incredible way to get fit and fight for fairness all at the same time. As you reach the finish line in October, you'll feel the satisfaction of having run a full marathon on behalf of LGBT equality. And that'll be an amazing feeling and a lasting legacy as we all move towards the finish line of full equality.

Join us now as we go the distance for equal rights – and let's start training!
