The following is from HRC's Senior Membership and Events Manager Trenard Hodge:
It's an event unlike any other. Each fall, 30,000 runners from 50 different countries crowd the streets of Arlington, Virginia and Washington, D.C., pounding the pavement in the annual Marine Corps Marathon. This year, you could be part of it all – running for the fun, for the glory, and even for equality. We're proud to announce our partnership with the Marine Corps Marathon and an exciting opportunity for HRC supporters like you to run the 26.2-mile race as part of HRC's team.
But we only have 100 spots available for accepted applicants – and they're going fast. Become An Athlete For Equality. Join HRC's Marine Corps Marathon Team. With our victory in repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" still fresh, you'll be joined by hundreds of cheering fans, moved by the sight of HRC supporters' involvement in an event with such deep military roots. Join our team and you'll get regular updates on plans for running the race along with some cool training tips. And if you reach your personal fund raising goal by race time, we'll send you some exciting prizes. Each of our runners is asked to raise money on behalf of HRC and our fight for LGBT equality. The base fund raising level begins at $1,000 – and most participants can raise this and more with just one quick email to friends and family who are always eager and excited to help! Last year's registration for the race's 30,000 spots filled up in just six days.
Register now for the chance to be one of 100 HRC supporters to have guaranteed spots in the marathon. Get your registration in now and join HRC's Athlete for Equality program. Be a part of HRC's equality marathon at the Marine Corps Marathon this fall.
