Jeb Bush: GOP Needs to Change Tone of Message

Post submitted by Dan Rafter, Former HRC Associate Director of Communications

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush says he’s concerned that the GOP’s tone on certain policies may bring his party long-term damage if they aren’t more palatable to broader audiences moving forward.

Bush made the remarks on “Meet the Press” yesterday:

“I'm concerned over the long haul, for sure. Our demographics are changing. And we have to change not necessarily our core beliefs, but how we…the tone of our message and the message and the intensity of it, for sure….This is going to be a close election. But long-term, if conservative principles are going to be successful and implemented, there has to be a concerted effort to reach out to a much broader audience than we do today.”
