Irish for Equality: Rhode Island Field Team Off and Running
March 14, 2011
The following post is from HRC field organizer Trevor Chandler:
Coming off the outstanding turnout at the marriage hearing this past week, the field team in Rhode Island went into full gear this weekend. We canvassed the famous Newport St. Patrick's Day Parade getting Rhode Islanders to call their state representatives and senators on the spot, and also sending them a postcard telling them they stand on the side of equality.
Throughout the sea of green, the positive energy and good will bodes well for the fight ahead. Later in the day we showed our support for the
excellent work AIDS Care Ocean State is doing and met with friends at their annual Mardis Gras benefit, meeting with our allies and members of the RI congressional delegation Rep. David Cicilline and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse.
Everyone knows the work never stops, which is why we continued to collect hundreds of postcards and make hundreds of phone calls in this past weekend alone. As a vote in the Rhode Island House of Representatives nears, we will continue to ramp up our efforts working with Marriage Equality Rhode Island to make sure that every Rhode Islander for equality is heard, and we need your help. Volunteer now and join the fight.
