Illinois Allows Marriage License to Terminally Ill
December 16, 2013 by Lynne Bowman, Regional Field Director
You may have seen a news report about two court cases that were recently filed by Lambda Legal and the ACLU of Illinois - each sought, and were successful in, getting three named same-sex couples where one partner has a terminal illness, a marriage license now. Today, the court ruled in favor of all same-sex couples in Illinois with similar medical circumstances - all you need to do is have a physician fill out a form available at the Cook County Clerk's website.
