Hundreds of Ohioans Exchange Vows at Marriage Equality Rally
March 26, 2012 by Eric Cameron, Digital Media Coordinator
This Saturday, more than 250 LGBT couples gathered in the Cleveland Galleria to exchange their vows. The event was organized by Equality Ohio as a symbolic protest, sending a strong message in support of marriage equality in the state of Ohio.
According to a press release from Equality Ohio, the event was the brainchild of Adam Hoover, a 17-year-old high school senior from Harrison, Ohio, who has organized previous rallies in Columbus and Cincinnati.
Eight priests and ministers from a variety of faiths recited the synchronized marriage vows. Equality Ohio executive director Ed Mullen said the mass marriage – though not legally valid – was one of the largest ever events of its kind.
