Hundreds of Nevadans Visit their Lawmakers in Carson City

With the momentum for marriage equality growing across the country, and the pending Supreme Court cases, hundreds of Nevadans visited their legislators at the state capitol in Carson City earlier this week.

During their visit, the Senate Legislative Operations & Elections Committee heard testimony on SJR13, legislation, which if passed would repeal the state’s ban on marriage equality. In 2002, Nevada voters passed Question 2, amending the state constitution to ban same-sex marriage. Recent polling in Nevada put support for same-sex marriage at a new high of 54 percent.

Currently, the SJR13 is sponsored by three of the five members of the committee. While it is likely that the current bill will pass out of committee, it is important to let you legislators in Nevada know that marriage equality is the right thing for the state.

Take action and send your Nevada state legislator a message now.
