HRC’s Chad Griffin on OUT’s Power List
April 10, 2013 by Charlie Joughin
Today OUT Magazine released The Power List 2013 – its 7th annual ranking of influential LGBT people in America, including politicians, celebrities, movement leaders, and media personalities, among others. This year HRC president Chad Griffin was listed at number 16 – up from number 20 last year.
The piece references Chad prompting Vice President Joe Biden to talk publicly in favor of marriage equality - which was followed by President Barack Obama, as well as HRC’s role in the historic victories on Election Day last year.
A number of other LGBT and pro-equality organization leaders made the list, including Freedom to Marry President Evan Wolfson (#41), SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry (# 37), Victory Fund CEO Chuck Wolfe (#27), and ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero (# 22).
Topping the list this year is Apple CEO Tim Cook. From OUT:
When Cook took charge of the tech giant in late 2011, many regarded the enigmatic successor with skepticism. But over the past year, the CEO has guided Apple through significant upgrades on all of the company’s product lines and led the brand’s market share to increase to 20% of all money spent on U.S. consumer technology, up 2% from 2011. And did we mention Cook sat next to Michelle Obama at the State of the Union address?
