HRC Volunteers Continue to Join Citizenship Workshops

A couple of weeks ago we told you about HRC volunteer leaders taking part in Ya Es Hora - a campaign to incorporate Latinos as full participants in the American political process.  This past weekend another event was held in Washington, D.C. and HRC volunteer leader Jose Gutierrez shares his thoughts:

HRC Volunteers with Ya Es Hora DC organizer Ana Negoescu. L-R: Jose Gutierrez, Daniel Penaloza, Negoescu, and Hyacinth Alvaran It was an honor and privilege to serve in the “Ya Es Hora” campaign and volunteer for HRC and CARECEN (Central American Resource Center) in Washington, D.C. This experience gave me the satisfaction to assist and support our community and help people fill out the applications for citizenship. This experience gave me the satisfaction to help others. The most important satisfaction was the sincere smile of gratitude of the people and the “Thank you-Gracias” with honesty and love. CARECEN provided the sandwiches, fresh fruits and refreshments, and HRC the volunteers, the positive energy and the deep desire to help those in need. “Ya Es Hora” was a great experience and a good satisfaction to wear the HRC t-shirt with the equality logo for LGBT Latinos in Washington, D.C. Muchas gracias!
