HRC to Join Hate Crimes Press Conference This Afternoon

This afternoon, HRC President Joe Solmonese will join Senate leaders at a press conference to call for the swift passage of a strong hate crimes bill, known in the Senate as the Matthew Shepard Act. Last week we called on the Senate to take action before the August recess. The House passed the bill in April with a bipartisan vote of 249-175 and reports indicate the bill could move as soon as this week in the Senate.
