HRC Teams Up with Allies in NC Phone Bank

The following post comes from Madeline L. Goss with the HRC Board of Governors:
We are really putting in an amazing effort to defeat Amendment One across North Carolina.
A great example of this work is the phonebanks we're running in Raleigh. HRC’s North Carolina Steering Committee – in partnership with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, PFLAG and the Triangle Freethought Society – has committed to doing a total of 22 phonebanks to defeat the discriminatory amendment.
From February 9 to April 18, we held 14 phonebanks, making 23,614 calls to identify people committed to voting against the amendment. Then on April 19, we started calling everyone back and encouraging them to vote at the One Stop Early Voting polling locations. We made 11,792 calls in just one week, including almost 4,000 calls on Thursday, April 26 by just 38 volunteers.
So many of the people we talk to are really thankful for our work. This is a monumental effort, and we're doing it in style. I'm proud to be working with such amazing volunteers on the most important campaign I've ever been a part of.
