HRC Religion Council Member to Appear on The Mo’Nique Show
January 26, 2011 by Anthony Moll
HRC was excited to learn this week that Bishop Carlton Pearson, a bold advocate for inclusion in faith communities and a member of HRC’s Religion Council, will appear on BET’s The Mo'Nique Show this Thursday. (Mo’Nique herself is a friend and ally of HRC’s who joined us last year in presenting our Visibility Award her friend and colleague Lee Daniels.)
Bishop Pearson is a renowned religious voice bringing a gospel of inclusion to people of varied faiths. In addition to extensive media appearances on CNN, Frontline, This American Life and more, he has authored many books that have been a source of healing for many who have felt marginalized or rejected by their congregations or denominations. One channel through which Pearson lends his wisdom to our communities is through his seat on HRC’s Religion Council, which consists of thirteen national religious spokespeople committed to equal rights for all Americans. They provide a prophetic voice on issues affecting the LGBT community, and embody the rich diversity of our faith communities in terms of theology, race, gender, geography and sexual orientation. We hope that you will tune in tomorrow at 11pm to catch Bishop Carlton as he joins Mo'Nique to spread his message of equality and inclusion consciousness.
