HRC President Chad Griffin joined leading business leaders in Charlotte today to demonstrate the broad and growing business support for employment protections. Tomorrow, a key U.S. Senate Committee will take up the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) – legislation that would provide workplace protections to the LGBT community. Both of North Carolina’s Senators, Kay Hagan and Richard Burr, sit on the committee considering ENDA tomorrow.
At the event, Hilton Worldwide signed on as the 100th member of HRC’s Business Coalition for Workplace Fairness.
The Business Coalition for Workplace Fairness is a group of leading U.S. employers that support the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, a federal bill that would provide the same basic protections that are already afforded to workers across the country.
At the event, Chad was joined by State Rep. Marcus Brandon; Stuart Campbell, Executive Director of Equality North Carolina; representatives from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and the Self-Help Credit Union; and a number of other business leaders.
HRC has been on the ground for the past few months in North Carolina, working to drum up constituent support for ENDA. At today’s press conference, Chad was surrounded by thousands of postcards from North Carolinians calling on Senator Burr to support ENDA.
