HRC Portland’s 2012 Annual Gala Dinner
August 4, 2012
It is nearly time again for HRC Portland's Annual Gala Dinner! On Saturday, August 11th, Meriwether's Restaurant at Skyline Farms is once again the location for the "Urban Farm" Gala Dinner. A terrific venue with a unique hillside dining location and sweeping views, Meriwether's dining offers a "farm-to-table" approach which includes fresh produce grown within view of your table. Along with a wonderful evening of food and drink with your fellow HRC members, the Gala also features its silent auction, with a number of exciting items graciously donated by our corporate sponsors, local businesses, and even some of our members.
This year, we are fortunate to host special guests Sasha Roiz and Representative Suzanne Bonamici. Sasha Roiz plays Captain Sean Renard in NBC's Grimm, which is shot on location here in Portland, and he also played Sam Adama on SyFy's 'Caprica', the gay (and married!) uncle of Battlestar Galactica's Admiral William Adama. U.S. Representative Suzanne Bonamici has been a strong ally for the LGBT community here in Oregon, and has been a longtime supporter of equality in our state.
An annual event with a history that observes 30 years in 2012, HRC hosts galas throughout the country as fund-raisers to support its many efforts to achieve the organizational mission “to build an America where lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender families and individuals can be open, honest and safe… at work, at home and in the community.” The Gala isn't just a wonderful evening of fun and good company, but it's an important fundraiser that helps support HRC's continuing work towards equality. In addition to the revenue collected from ticket sales and the auction, individuals who wish to support HRC Portland in its efforts can also volunteer their time to help run the Gala, both in a preparative capacity before the event, and during the event as well. Ticket purchase information, sponsorship and donation information, and volunteer contact information can all be found on our events page.
