HRC Participating in Rally Sunday for Comprehensive Immigration Reform
March 16, 2010
On Sunday, March 21st 2010, the Human Rights Campaign staff, members and volunteers will rally side by side with our many coalition partners in support of comprehensive immigration reform. March for America will bring together tens of thousands including labor unions, religious organizations, non-profit and non-governmental organizations, as well as activists, families and individuals, immigrant and U.S. nationals alike. Please join the HRC family as we unite with other civil rights organizations linked to our common struggle for equality with the immigrant community. While HRC's primary focus is on securing equal rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, it's clear that we cannot accomplish this mission alone -- and we can support others in their efforts for social justice. We have already been engaging the Latino/a community through our successful partnership with the national Ya es Hora civic engagement campaign, and this is a natural extension of that work. By continuing to build these coalitions and by expanding our communities, we know that we can more effectively advocate for equality for all people. Below is a rundown of the day: 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Meet at HRC at 1640 Rhode Island Ave. NW Washington, D.C. 20036 (Sign-making party TBD) 12:30 p.m. Begin March to the National Mall 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Interfaith service, rally, and march If you are interested in marching with our HRC contingent or if you have any questions, please contact Joey Gaskins at firstname.lastname@example.org.
