HRC Long Island Wins Big at 5th Annual Outlook Awards Dinner
March 1, 2011 by Anthony Moll
The following is from HRC volunteer Teri Moschetta:
For the 5th year in a row, the readers of Outlook magazine, the largest LGBT publication on Long Island, chose HRC Long Island as the Best Political Organization and, for the first time, they selected HRC as the Best Overall Community Organization. In addition, HRC Long Island volunteer Alex Martinez tied for Activist of the Year, and HRC National Board of Directors co-chair Rebecca Tillet was voted Volunteer of the Year.
The awards were presented at the 5th annual Outlook-Long Island dinner at the Thatched Cottage in Centerport, NY on Saturday, January 15, 2011. Tom and Johnny Malanga, publishers of Outlook, hosted this annual dinner dance attended by over 250 people. The fact that we swept all four categories in which we were nominated is a tribute to the work of our volunteers and local leadership, led by HRC Board of Governors member Patty Ellis. HRC continues to grow in success and influence on Long Island.
