HRC Long Island Wins Big at 4th Annual Outlook Awards Dinner
January 25, 2010
This post comes to us from Theresa Moschetta, a member of the HRC Board of Governors from Long Island:
The readers of Outlook magazine -- the largest LGBT publication on Long Island -- voted HRC Long Island as the BEST of Long Island in several categories in their annual awards.
- For the fourth consecutive year HRC Long Island was voted the Best Political Organization of 2009.
- For their L Word premiere party, HRC Long Island was voted Best Cultural Event of 2009.
- Capping the evening, the 2009 Volunteer of the Year award went to Patty Ellis, the Greater New York Steering Committee political co-chair, for her work in organizing a formidable team to help bring the marriage debate to a vote in the New York State Senate.
The awards were presented at the 4th annual Outlook dinner dance, hosted by Tom and Johnny Malanga, publishers of Outlook. This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Jeanne Bezko for her work at National Grid. It was very gratifying to hear Jeanne, an HRC member, talk about the importance of the CEI in her remarks. Over 250 people attended the annual dinner dance which was held on January 23, 2010 at the Thatched Cottage in Centerport, NY.
