HRC Field Organizers in Albany, Keeping Up the Momentum for Marriage Equality
June 20, 2011 by Adrian Matanza, Senior Regional Field Organizer
This post comes from HRC New York Field Organizer, Jeremy Hammond.
At the stroke of midnight, members of Team Long Island departed for Albany, driving tirelessly through the night to make it to the Capitol this morning before the daily legislative session began. With tired eyes and bodies and short disco naps, we headed out for the Capitol Building.
This morning, hundreds of marriage equality advocates from a wide range of ages and backgrounds, descended upon the state capitol building in Albany to make sure their representatives know that New Yorkers support marriage equality.
To make sure our senators heard from their constituents, Team Long Island met up with members from the Hudson Valley and Western New York teams for a joint phonebank at the local SEIU 1199 headquarters. We spent hours calling supporters across the state to make sure every New Yorker was given the opportunity to let their voice be heard.
Make sure you call your state senator. It’s easy. Click here to make your voice heard.
