HRC Fetes HBO’s “The Case Against 8” Premiere with Reception for Same-Sex Couples

Case Against 8 LogoOn Saturday, “The Case Against 8,” debuted to a standing ovation and rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival.

The powerful documentary is a meticulous behind-the-scenes chronicle of the now-historic case challenging California’s discriminatory Proposition 8.

Case Against 8 and HRCCo-Directors Ben Cotner, who was tapped as one of Sundance’s breakout stars, and Ryan White joined Attorneys Ted Olson & David Boies, HRC President Chad Griffin and the Prop. 8 plaintiffs – Kris Perry & Sandy Stier and Paul Zarrillo and Jeff Katami –  after the screening for a question and answer segment before a packed audience.

HRC Flags at SundanceNot ones to rest on their laurels, The American Federation for Equal Rights and Attorneys Olson and Boies are currently working on a federal constitutional challenge to Virginia’s ban on marriage equality.

“The goal is to have marriage equality in all 50 states in five years," Olson said during the question and answer segment. “If you look at the progress that has been made since June, I think you can see that we are well on our way."
