HRC Equality Tour Hit the Arkansas River Market
September 17, 2011
This post is from Zack Hasychak, Community Events Manager at HRC.
The HRC Equality exhibit was open to the public this morning at River Market, the hub of weekend activity here in downtown Little Rock. Surrounded by restaurants, bookstores and a world-famous market, and just down the street from the Clinton Presidential Library, hundreds of Arkansans stopped by our bus to experience the Equality exhibit and share their story with HRC.
Partnering with local groups, like CAR, Arkansas Stonewall Democrats, PFLAG and the Northwest Arkansas Equality Center, we had quite the LGBT street fair this morning!
LGBT and Allied Arkansans alike came out to share what equality means to them. “Equality means that everyone is afforded the same rights, respect and dignity, regardless of race, age or sexual identity,” one of our visitors noted. “I’ve lived in Arkansas my whole life, and I’ve never seen the community come together and be so open in public like they have this weekend,” another visitor commented.
The message of equality is being heard loud and clear this weekend in Little Rock!
