HRC-endorsed Scott Murphy sworn-in as congressional representative for NY-20
April 29, 2009
UPDATE: Following today's vote on the rule on the hate crimes bill, Scott Murphy (D-NY), who won the special election against Assemblyman Jim Tedisco to replace Kirsten Gillibrand in New York's Twentieth Congressional District, was just sworn-in on the U.S. House Floor by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Scott Murphy was endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign. HRC mobilized volunteers to turn out fair-minded voters for the special election to fill Gillibrand's seat after she was named Hillary Clinton's U.S. Senate replacement. HRC members volunteered tirelessly across NY-20 to help turn Murphy's initial 11-point gap into a victory.
