HRC Calls on VA Gov. McDonnell to Support State’s Children in Full-Page Ad

HRC has taken out a full-page ad [pdf] in tomorrow’s Richmond Times-Dispatch, calling on Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell to support regulations that would prevent child welfare agencies from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation, marital status, or religion in the adoption process.
There are currently over one thousand children in the Virginia foster care system waiting to be adopted into a permanent loving home. The proposed regulations would open up hundreds, if not thousands of loving, permanent homes for these children.
Governor McDonnell recently told reporters he opposes the regulations, but has until April 16 to make his formal recommendation to the State Board of Social Services.
