HRC Bridges Recap - A New Monthly Event in Portland

HRC Portland would like to share the recent success of a new event, HRC Bridges. Bridges is a monthly gathering held to bring together the steering committee, volunteers, our friends and our families in a relaxed social setting, away from the sometimes faster pace of our larger events. It has been an opportunity to meet the people behind the push for equality in Oregon, get to know them better, find out a bit about our work both on a local level and nationally, and find out about how one might get involved. It has also been a great chance to meet and get to know other HRC members and their friends and family in the local community.

Having begun in May, Bridges has so far held three very successful events. Our launch event was held at Riva on the Park on the Southeast Waterfront, and lasted late into the evening with good food and great company. In June, Bridges met at Cyan in downtown Portland and featured a chance to meet Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown, HRC Founder Terry Bean, and David Martinez, the president of Portland Latino Pride. This past weekend, Bridges shifted focus to a more family-centered event, meeting at the Oregon Zoo for a fun afternoon before heading to Hamburger Mary's for dinner, where 10% of the evening's sales were graciously donated to support HRC.

Bridges events will continue to be monthly, and a wide diversity of venue is planned. If you have any suggestions for future events or if you have a venue that would like to host Bridges, please contact us at We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
