HRC Announces Census Education Campaign Along With Other LGBT Rights Groups

LGBT-rights groups today announced the creation of Our Families Count, a public education campaign to encourage LGBT people to participate in the 2010 U.S. Census. HRC joins nine other organizations participating in the project, including: Equality Federation; Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD); HONOR PAC; National Black Justice Coalition; National Center for Transgender Equality; National Gay and Lesbian Task Force; National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance; Unid@s; and The Williams Institute, UCLA School of Law Our Families Count partners also made an invitation to other movement groups who share in the goal of making next year’s census the most accurate and complete count in history. HRC, who was a member of the Out the Census visibility project in 2000, has been working with the Our Families Count partnership since January.
