HRC and Coalition Launch Unprecedented Ad Campaign for Marriage
February 20, 2013 by Dan Rafter, Online Campaigns Manager
The Respect for Marriage Coalition, which is co-chaired by HRC and Freedom to Marry, is releasing a new national ad this morning highlighting the bipartisan momentum for marriage equality. The ad features President Obama, former Vice President Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, and Laura Bush – all voicing their support for the freedom of loving and committed same-sex couples to marry the person they love.
The ad blitz launches just one day after the first poll of 2013 demonstrates increasing support across party lines for marriage. The poll by Grove Insight showed that three-quarters of Americans believe it is a constitutional right to marry the person they love – including 75 percent of independents and 56 percent of Republicans.
The television ad will air nationally on CNN and MSNBC, during network news Sunday shows, and in major print and online outlets including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and Politico. The ads are slated for a multi-week run.
Check out the video and be sure to share it with your family and friends:
The Respect for Marriage Coalition is a partnership of more than 80 civil rights, faith, health, labor, business, legal, LGBT, student, and women’s organizations working together to end the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act and grow support for marriage equality.
