Help Counter One of Congress’ Most Anti-Gay Members

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is one of the most anti-LGBT lawmakers we’ve seen in quite some time. King has made outlandish remarks about LGBT Americans that are false, malicious and often dangerous.

Now, we have a promising opportunity to end his hate-fueled career in Congress, where he has worked vigorously to demonize LGBT Americans and codify discrimination. Christie Vilsack – Iowa’s former first lady – is an ally for equality who just last year took to the airwaves in the Hawkeye State, urging voters to retain Supreme Court justices who overturned a discriminatory law against marriage equality.

Act now to support Christie Vilsack and other candidates for equality across the country this election cycle.

Rep. King presents a threat to equality’s march forward. Among other things, King has:

  • Said LGBT people should get a “thick skin” in response to incidents of harassment.
  • Said LGBT Americans should be more discreet to avoid discrimination.
  • Said, following the 2009 passage of marriage equality in Iowa, “our worst fears have been realized.”

Act now to put to a stop to King’s vitriol. Support Christie Vilsack and other candidates for equality.
