Hawaii Civil Union Vote Protest Actions Friday

The following events are planned in Hawaii for this Friday in the wake of the House inaction on the civil union bill. Starting at 3:00 PM (State Capitol) Hand deliver “Thank You” notes to the Representatives for speaking up on our behalf. (We are looking for people to do this with their mouths duct taped a la "NO H8" campaign) 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM (State Capitol) Sign-waving: in support of Civil Unions especially given that Lambda Legal and ACLU Hawaii will be filing a lawsuit against the State of Hawaii for Civil Unions. 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM (State Capitol) Memorial Service for Democracy. We ask everyone to wear black or at least a black armband and a rainbow lei and bring a flash light. There will be speakers from the different groups supporting the event talking about what democracy meant to them and their organization. 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM (State Capitol to Chinatown) Silent March to Chinatown to hand out fliers to make sure everyone knows about how Say and Magaoay tried to kill democracy at the State Capitol. Ending the march at the park next to the Hawaii Theatre (behind Indigo).
