Moments ago, U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb denied the Wisconsin Attorney General Van Hollen’s request for an emergency stay on her decision to strike down Wisconsin’s same-sex marriage ban.
On Friday and Saturday, couples across the state rushed to courthouses to wed.
According to The Associated Press, Crabb is waiting to receive clarification from the American Civil Liberties Union, which filed the lawsuit in January.
Much confusion exists on the ground as some counties continue to issue licenses to loving, committed couples while others are declining, according to reports. Van Hollen has also filed a stay with the Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
The next hearing is set for June 19.
