Family Research Council and Duggar Family on the Road for Ken Cuccinelli

The entire Duggar family, best known from the TLC series "19 and Counting," will join the Family Research Council for a “Values Bus Tour” across Virginia in support of Ken Cuccinelli and EW Jackson’s political candidacies.

The tour will kickoff immediately following the Values Voter Summit, a conference with a history rife with anti-LGBT rhetoric. Last year at the event, Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney spoke out against marriage equality. Two years ago, House Speaker John Boehner vowed to continue his crusade to protect of the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act.

HRC has spoken out against the GOP radically anti-LGBT gubernatorial ticket. Cuccinelli has advocated for archaic policies that roll back the clock on equality and legislate against the LGBT community. As Attorney General, he urged Virginia’s public colleges and universities to rescind policies banning discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Jackson has spoken out against gay people more bluntly – calling them “perverted…very sick people.” In a video released last year, Jackson said gay people should just stay in the closet: “They can keep their homosexuality private.” In the same video, Jackson claimed Planned Parenthood caused more harm than the Ku Klux Klan ever did.

HRC earlier this week announced it will join the Southern Poverty Law Center in urging lawmarkes not to attend FRC’s conference. View the full letter Chad signed from the SPLC to attending lawmakers. In addition to HRC and SPLC, other organizations signing on to the letter include the NAACP, National Council of La Raza, GLAAD, People for the Americans Way Foundation and Faithful America.
