Faith Leaders Call for End to Violent Tea Party Rhetoric
April 15, 2010
Today in Los Angeles, faith leaders gathered at All Saints Pasadena to claim an end to violent rhetoric masking as religion, which has been witnessed most recently by the leadership of the Tea Party movement. This group, A Moral Compass to Justice, led by Rev. Eric Lee of the Southern Leadership Conference of California and myself from HRC, consists of justice-minded faith leaders calling for a faith-based alternative to the environment of racism, homophobia, discrimination, and violence. A Moral Compass to Justice commits to putting faith into action by standing in solidarity with the disenfranchised and by exposing how injustice impacts our entire community. Read their press statement [pdf] and stay tuned for announcements of other activities.
