Faith and LGBT Pride - Honoring John McNeil
June 14, 2010
The following post comes from HRC Religion & Faith Program Coordinator Joanna Blotner: This past Friday, HRC’s Religion and Faith Program was honored to co-host a fundraiser with DignityUSA to support the completion of a documentary project capturing the life and legacy of John McNeil, an ordained Catholic priest and psychotherapist and a pioneer in LGBT advocacy. McNeil is a World War II Veteran and Prisoner of War, the founder of Dignity New York, and author of the groundbreaking book The Church and The Homosexual (1976). He has devoted his life to spreading the good news of God's love for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Christians and is a true giant in the movement for justice and equality. Excerpts from the documentary, whose title is still undecided, will be available online soon. In the meantime, if you feel moved to help finish production on this important film, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more about contributing.
