Equality in the Equality State?
March 8, 2011 by Adrian Matanza, Regional Field Director
Last week, the Wyoming state senate rejected HB74, a bill that would ban the recognition of marriages or civil unions between couples of the same-sex entered in another state. The senate refused to even debate the bill and effectively killed the bill for the legislative session.
The bill was a watered down version of a marriage ban introduced and passed in the Wyoming house hours earlier. Rachel Maddow reports on the bill in this clip. She mentions that this comes as a surprise, as the Wyoming legislature IS the most Republican legislature in the country. She also provides her commentary and testimony of Republican senators that argue in favor of equality. Check out the video here.
