ENDA in the New Year with GABLES of Cape May
January 13, 2010
This update on our continuing organizing around the Employment Non-Discrimination Act comes from David Hurley, currently in New Jersey:
Saturday marked my first ENDA event of the new year. I left New York City, hit the road and headed to the first of three key congressional districts which I will be visiting over the next two weeks. For the first leg of my journey I visited our great allies, GABLES of Cape May, located in New Jersey’s CD-2. I love GABLES of Cape May because they have been such great allies to HRC and our ENDA work. I first showed up at their monthly meeting back in November and they have been wonderful hosts ever since, providing me with supporter housing and local ENDA support from clergy and business. The evening started off with a good old fashion pizza party, then bingo, we did a post-holiday unwanted gift exchange (which was a riot) and then the whole group -- more than 30 of them -- wrote letters to their congressman. Traveling on the road can be extremely tiring as you can imagine, but having the chance to work with enthusiastic organizations that are so willing to take action totally recharges my battery and makes all my travels worthwhile. I want to thank GABLES for always supporting the LGBT community and our collective ENDA efforts in their work and deed.
