Election Mobilization Tour Hits Portland, Maine
November 1, 2012 by Maureen McCarty, HRC Associate Director of Digital Media
We’re in the final countdown to Election Day, and HRC President Chad Griffin is keeping the drum beating in Portland, Maine.
Voters in Maine are being asked to affirmatively pass marriage for gays and lesbians at the ballot box.
Mainers United for Marriage have lead the charge toward equality in the state. Griffin stopped by the office to speak with campaign manager Matt McTighe and volunteer canvassers before they headed out to encourage equality-minded voters to vote “Yes on 1” on Nov 6.
Griffin’s time in Maine is part of HRC’s largest mobilization effort in the organization’s history. He is on a six-state tour to encourage members and supporters to get out and vote for equality
By Election Day, HRC will have invested $8 million in efforts to expand marriage equality over the past two years, including $5 million in the four ballot measure states.
There’s still time to make a difference. HRC has set up a special fund – HRC Maine Families PAC – to direct 100 percent of your contribution to help win marriage equality in Maine.
