Support for Marriage Equality Coalition Pours in From Across Minnesota
February 3, 2012 by Maureen McCarty, HRC Associate Director of Digital Media
Minnesotans United for All Families, a coalition working to defeat the anti-family ballot measure, has taken its transparency one step further by releasing a map of its statewide donations. Support is pouring in from across the state. Over 5,000 donations amounting to over $1.2 million dollars in six months has gone toward the coalition’s work.
By contrast, marriage equality opponents in Minnesota have claimed only seven individual donations and one donation from a family estate and continue to attempt to dodge campaign disclosure laws. They have raised more than $1.2 million from just three entities: $750,000 contributed by the Minnesota Catholic Conference, $250,000 by the National Organization for Marriage and $226,000 by the Minnesota Family Council.
