Dollywood Official: No Admittance in “Marriage is so Gay” shirt

A lesbian couple visiting Dollywood’s Splash Country says a gatekeeper asked Olivier Odom to turn her HRC “marriage is so gay” t-shirt inside out before entering the park. Odom was with her wife, Jennifer Tipton, and the children of some friends. She complied so the kids could have a fun time at the park – but couldn’t help but notice patrons sporting t-shirts that displayed the Confederate flag, as well as offensive tattoos.

According to WBIR, Odom wrote to Dollywood after reaching out to the Campaign for Southern Equality. In her letter, she asked:

"To ensure that your customers are not treated this way in the future, I would like to see Dollywood: implement policies that are inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people; conduct staff sensitivity training; and issue a public statement indicating that the park is inclusive of all families."

Dolly Parton is known for her support of marriage equality. Dollywood officials say they’ll reach out to Odom and Tipton to discuss the incident.
